Boys to choose between God and a girl

Boys to choose between God and a girl

A new reality show started on AE, but it's probably not what viewers might expect of the genre. "God or the Girl" follows for young men who have to decide between becoming priests or getting married.

28-year-old Joe Adair from Cleveland is divided between priesthood and a long-distance girlfriend. While his mother is urging him to become a priest, he is conflicted about his feeling for Anna, a girl he met at a youth-group gathering in Germany.

Steve Horvath is 25 and comes from Fairfax, VA. Even though he was on his way to beoming a millionaire and had a great girlfriend, the call to priesthood "hit him like a ton of bricks", as he says. Everyone who knows him can't believe his sudden reconsideration of life and someone even asked him if he wasn't worried that people will percieve his as a child molester. He replied with "Your attitude is exactly why I want to do this".

Scranton, PA, native Mike Lechniak has been dating Aly for a long time, but now he wants to follow in the footsteps of his parish priest, whom he deeply admires. Even though Aly is taking his decision pretty hard, he says "We put God first".

And finally, 21-year-old Dan DeMatte is a spiritual counselor for high-school kids, who sometimes even holds prayer-ins in front of abortion clinics. In the second episode, he builds an 80-pound cross and sets off to carry it 20 miles, to experience Jesus' suffering.
